Blog – Emmaline Bags Mix & Match Bridal Clutch Sewing Patterns

The benefit of having super talented designers as friends is that when you need to make a bridal clutch in a hurry, you don’t have to design one, you can use a pattern of theirs! I chose the Mix & Match clutch class by Janelle from Emmaline Bags on Craftsy because it was the right size, looked cute and was quick!

I used white satin from my stash, but I didn’t have quite enough so I used silver satin for the sides and lining. It worked out quite well actually and didn’t stand out that I’d used a different colour!

The beaded motif was bought as an applique (£10 on ebay – Number 4 pictured) and I glued it into place, then stitched it on whilst watching telly on the settee. I loved it, and didn’t realise til I handed it over that it matched my friend’s tiara perfectly!

My beautiful friend at the reception in the evening.

I used a gold metal zip for the lining, and silver satin. My one regret is that when you place the outer and lining together to sew I didn’t cover over the applique, and it snagged on the flap lining fabric as you can see above. It’s not a big deal, but my eye always goes to it whenever I look at it!

I absolutely love the shape of this clutch, it’s rounded, it’s nice to carry and hold in your hand…it’s so clever! Janelle sure is a clever little sausage!

I added the small D rings as per the class and used a removable metal strap. My friend did use the strap on the day, so I was glad that I’d added it.

I love the shape of the clutch, and of course there’s other options for the shape and the flap if this is not quite to your requirements.

If you want to make your own, I’d heartily recommend the Craftsy class which you can find here. Janelle is a great designer, and I’m proud to support her class.
(There are no affiliate links in my post – I just love the clutch I made from Janelle’s class pattern)
