It’s hard to believe that a full year has already passed since my last birthday. In many ways, the last year feels like a giant blur. I must admit that I haven’t been purchasing as many handbags as usual over the course of the last year, but with the warmer weather I am ready to venture out of my house more and add something new and shiny to my collection.
I am not a big “birthday person”, in fact, I usually opt to have a quiet dinner with my husband and my mom on my birthday, even during a “normal” year. However even though I may not love large celebrations or parties, I always make sure to mark the occasion by treating myself to something nice. I am very sentimental and associate tangible items with moments, and a new bag is always a very special way to commemorate a milestone.
I’ve got my eye on some beautiful bags for my birthday this year and I’ve rounded them up below. What should I get? Help me decide in the comments!
Louis Vuitton Marshmallow Bag ($2,540)
Like many other purse lovers, I am absolutely obsessing over Louis Vuitton’s latest bag, the Marshmallow bag. Pink is my favorite color, so I am of course pining over the rosebud color. Not shockingly, the Marshmallow bag is sold out and extremely hard to get. The likelihood of me getting this bag in my hands is low, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try.
Saint Laurent Medium Niki Shoulder Bag ($2,590)
I own two Saint Laurent bags, the Envelope and the Loulou. They are two of my most frequently carried bags, they are so convenient and dress up any clothing (yep, even leggings). I am obsessed with the more casual and laid back style of the Niki bag. I’ve been coveting this bag for a few years now, I would love to have one in my collection. I can see myself wearing a Niki bag to run errands or on a date night, the design is so versatile.
Balenciaga Neo Classic Small Leather Top Handle Bag ($2,290)
This croc-embossed Balenciaga is a dream! Confession time…I’ve bought and sold off the infamous Balenciaga City bag a few times. I love the iconic Balenciaga look, but the delicate leathers have always posed a problem and become a deal breaker for me. The answer to my problems may be right in front of my eyes. Croc patent embossed leather is sure to be more durable and show less signs of wear than my previous Bal bags. I am living for this mink gray color as well, it’s perfect for year round wear.
Prada Galleria Small Tote Bag ($2,600)
I am a big fan of Prada and I have loved their Saffiano leathers for as long as I can remember. I am especially fond of this bright pink color! I have a bit of a story about my love of the Prada Saffiano handbags. About a decade ago I purchased a tiny Prada card holder in a similar color (I’ve always admired Prada pinks, apparently), and a sales associate made a remark that “one day maybe I could buy a whole bag”. It was a jarring moment for me as a consumer (and it is one reason I prefer to shop online and not work with one singular sales associate), but having my very own pink Prada bag has internalized itself as one of my goals nonetheless. I love this bag and think this could be my Prada year.
Marni Trunk Bag ($2,190)
I don’t own a single Marni bag. I remember the absolute HYPE when the Marni Balloon bag was at its peak popularity, Cameron Diaz owned one in yellow and I pined over it for months. However, Marni has never been at the top of my radar or wishlist. This adorable Trunk bag may change all that. I adore the navy and mint green color blocking and the accordion style detail on the siding. This bag screams summer to me, I can totally see myself vacationing on the Cape wearing this bag.
Polène Numéro Un ($420)
Polène is one of my favorite brands. The designs are unique, beautiful, and the quality and craftsmanship are unmatched. When I find a design that works well for me, I carry it repeatedly and am known to obtain multiple colors. I already have the Numéro Un in a deep, rich wine color and a gorgeous navy hue, but I would love to add something lighter into my rotation for the spring and summer. The Trio Camel color is calling my name…maybe, just maybe, I can wear it to Paris someday soon (wishful thinking?).
Kurt Geiger London XXL Kensington Soft Quilted Leather Shoulder Bag ($295)
Kurt Geiger London is a brand that has its own little cult following. Anyone who owns one is likely to rave about it, I have had many conversations with friends about how amazing the quality is. The best part? The price point! I have been really wanting to add a Jumbo Chanel Flap to my collection, but for the Chanel price point and quality control issues, I am choosing to pass. The Kurt Geiger is a similar look for an excellent price, and from my personal experience, the quality is top notch for your dollar. I love this pretty greenish blue color as well, it would integrate wonderfully with my colorful wardrobe.
Burberry Small Title Check Double Handle Bag ($1,990)
Something about April and spring always make me covet a Burberry bag. I’m not sure why this is, but alas, here we are. I have added Burberry designs to my cart so many times, yet for some reason I have never purchased one. They say the best gifts are the kind that you wouldn’t buy for yourself but you really want, so this little bag sure does fall into that category. I think it’s too cute and perfect for any handbag collector.
Valentino Garavani Roman Stud Top-Handle Bag ($3,350)
If you had asked me six months ago if I thought I would be wishing for a Rockstud handbag from Valentino, I would never have believed you. I was so over Rockstuds and never saw myself going back to that design. However, I was so wrong! I really like the oversized studs and I am willing to admit this bag has definitely captured my heart. Do I need it, or is this a fleeting trend?
